From Corporate life to My Dream Job

Hey Ya’ll', my name is Rochelle and I am the designer behind Rovals Décor Llc: a family-owned business. After returning to college for my Bachelors's and Masters's degrees, I enthusiastically made my way into the corporate world. Several years passed, and I still couldn’t find that perfect job, so in 2017, I left the grind behind and never looked back! I traveled throughout the United States teaching private and corporate jewelry classes, along with selling my work and supplies. Though I won many awards in jewelry making and adored the happy faces of my students, something was still missing.

I met the love of my life and he taught me everything I know about wood. We built furniture together, upcycled old antiques that were saved from a landfill, and turned what someone thought was trash into a beautiful and functional piece of décor. Soon, I opened my own brick-and-mortar store, where I sold antiques, repurposed pieces, and my jewelry designs.

Over time, the market became super saturated with jewelry, and I had to continue down a different path. I closed my brick-and-mortar store and started working out of my studio creating and designing new items. I opened the Bitch Barn and started selling from it antiques, farmhouse items, furniture, and my designs. I adore the restoration process and enjoy seeing a piece that was 80-plus years old receive a new lease on life. I love every minute!

Today my time is spent creating new pieces that are cut either by my lasers, bandsaws, jigsaws or table saw. Various kinds of wood are used in my creations and a mixture of high-quality paints and inks finish each piece. I also use a variety of stains to create different color backgrounds, thus making a unique final product. What a fun and far cry from corporate life!

The Future

I currently live in Illinois with my husband and my mother and our herd of fuzzballs. Yes I said herd we have 6 loving pups at various stages of life. In a perfect world I would love to open a Senior Doggy Rescue. That has always been my dream and when we retire that is still the game plan. But for now I will continue to donate to multiple pet organizations, as I have for over 15 years. Every sale of my merchandise no matter how big or small a portion of the sale goes to animal shelters. “Every Pet deserves a loving Home”.

Thank you so much for continue support of a small business and helping animals get their forever home.

We would love to hear from you.

Please let me know how I can help you.
